Wide Events Internship

Rate of Pay: Real Living Wage - £13.45 per hour

Wide Events is offering a three-month internship for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in event-based work. The role will support the organisation’s Born To Be Wide and Off The Record event strands and is supported by the City of Edinburgh Council Local Events Open Fund.

This is a temporary, part-time (on average eight hours per week) internship, based at our Leith office. Additional hours and evening work will be required on the event delivery days.

The opportunity is designed for an aspiring industry professional aged 16-25 and currently living within the City of Edinburgh Council area. You will have the chance to develop practical skills and knowledge in planning and delivering music-industry events, while also building valuable connections with a broad spectrum of musicians and creative practitioners.

Formal work experience in music is not a requirement but examples of your interest in music activities, complementary experience (e.g. hospitality, customer service), voluntary roles or your own projects (e.g. putting on gigs, writing a blog) are helpful.

Key Requirements:

  • Aged 16-25 (on start date of internship)

  • Friendly and people-focused. 

  • Punctual and reliable.

  • Great at working in a team.

  • A strong interest in the music industry.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Supporting the organisation and delivery of three Born To Be Wide evenings, Off The Record’s daytime conference and live events workshop. 

  • Assisting with pre-event planning, timelines, and organisational tasks.

  • Helping coordinate venue logistics (room setups, sound checks, equipment needs).

  • Communicating with panelists regarding schedules and event details.

  • Assisting with scheduling of sessions, panels, and workshops.

  • Responding to attendee inquiries via email or at events.

  • Supporting attendees with ticketing issues, directions, or schedule questions.

  • Helping gather attendee feedback during or after the event.

  • Data entry and outreach (contact lists, RSVPs, surveys).

  • Updating spreadsheets or project management tools.

  • Supporting the delivery of each event on-site.

  • Supporting promotional activities.

Application Guidance:

If you are short-listed you will be invited for an online interview on 7 or 8 January.

Interview process: We will send you key questions in advance. This will be followed by an open conversation about the organisation and role, with applicants encouraged to ask questions and discuss their own aspirations.
