Off The Record 2024


Off The Record is an event for young musicians and those who want to work in the music industry, and is open to anyone aged 16-25.  

Taking place at The Pleasance Cabaret Bar on Saturday 24 February, the event will feature key figures from the music business taking part in seminars, workshops and advice sessions – all geared towards demystifying the industry and providing the key knowledge to get started. 

Admission fee includes lunch and access to the Off The Record conference programme throughout the day.

Digital distribution made easy, want to get your releases on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and more? Get an overview of how digital release platforms operate, hints and tips for your digital releases and an overview of Shazam, Spotify for Artists and chart registrations.

How To Get Funding For Your Work

Whether you make music or work with musicians, it is crucial to know the support that's available to you. UK Funding Organisations are on hand to give a round up of how they operate, the funds and grants they have available and what support systems they have for emerging musicians across Scotland.

Working In Music


Panelists provide insight into their roles in the industry and how you can develop your skills and network. Giving an overview of their experiences working in music, how they progressed to where they are now and advice on support networks and opportunities available to anyone starting out their career in music.

Highway To Health: Mental & Physical Health In Music

This session aims to look at the common health issues affecting people working in music, how to pre-empt them and how to maintain your mental and physical health while navigating the music industry. Gain an insight to the support available and how to stay healthy on tour and in your work environment.

DJs & Club Nights: How To Get Started

DJ’s from across Scotland discuss how to make demo mixes, what steps you can take to get involved in DJing, tips on how to make yourself stand out and advice on what you need to consider when organising a club night.

If you are under 18 we require a parent/carer to complete the photo permission form below. Preferably consent forms will be sent to kitt@otrscot.com in advance of the event, but if this is not possible, please bring the signed form on the day.
