Louise Stanners Pow

Regional Officer, Scotland & NI, Musicians' Union

The MU is the Trade Union for musicians and represents over 34,000 working musicians in the UK who work across all areas of the music industry. Our members are gigging musicians, music teachers, DJs and producers, orchestral players, composers, session musicians and everything in between. As well as negotiating on behalf of members with all the major employers in the industry, we offer a range of support services for musicians. We work to maximise the employment and overall income of musicians as well as protecting and improving working conditions. We also offer advice, support and legal assistance based on every individual member’s needs.

Louise Stanners Pow is the Regional Officer for the Musicians’ Union (MU) in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Part of Louise’s day to day role at the MU involves advising musicians on all aspects of their careers and in particular helping members navigate their copyright questions, business contracts and providing general advice on working as a musician. Louise also organises the training and career development programme of events for MU members in Scotland & Northern Ireland.

At a 1-2-1 session Louise and can help with questions relating to your career and provide information on getting involved in your union. Prior to working for the MU, Louise was a singer and songwriter. Louise also has a BA degree in Popular Music from Edinburgh Napier University.
